Equine Massage
Equine Sports Massage Therapy is being increasingly utilized to enhance the performance of equine athletes around the world. Consider that 60% of your horses body weight is comprised of skeletal muscle and is, of course, the system responsible for movement. With this in mind let's look at how a muscular problem may develop. A muscle is a structure that is composed of specialized cells capable of contraction and relaxation to create movement. If a number of these bundles spasm due to overuse, the result can be an inability of the muscle to be stretched to full length. As the muscle spasm becomes further irritated from continued use, more muscle fibers are added to the spasm. The larger the spasm becomes, the more discomfort to your horse. This can result in your horse 'guarding' the painful area and compensating with other muscles or groups of muscle. Muscle spasms shorten the length of the muscle, thereby restricting movement, and inhibiting performance.
Your horse has no way of telling you "I'm hurting, let's not work today!" Instead your horse uses non-verbal communication. Signs that your horse may have muscle soreness are stumbling, tossing of head, refusing or resisting leads, shortened strides, poor disposition, and difficulty with lateral movements. If your horse is exhibiting any signs of lameness it is very important to have him/her examined by a veterinarian to rule out a more serious problem.
Equine Sports Massage Therapy benefits all breeds and disciplines including racehorses, dressage, cutting, endurance, and show ring competitors. Massage therapy received at regular intervals help guard against future muscle injuries, maintain free flowing movements, efficient and relaxed gaits, and all around wellness of the equine body and mind.

NUMEROLOGY
Numerology has been used since ancient times to shed light on relationships, health and global events. Each number in an address, letter in a name and element in a birth date possesses a special numerical significance. Understanding what these numbers symbolize can help you better understand yourself and others.
Advanced numerology can be complicated but you can get excellent results just by understanding the basics. The simplest way to get started is to determine and understand your birth number.
PALMISTRY
Each person's hand is different. From the palms, it can be seen if one will be famous or rich, at some point of life; whether one will lose one's fame or riches. I can tell if you will marry and if the person will have a good effect or bad effect in your life; if you will have a divorce and if the divorce is going to be a bitter one. There are people who are born jealous and they make their lives and the lives of the people around them miserable. By knowing this fact, a person can work on this trait and better his/her life.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish massage was originally developed in the late eighteenth century by a Swedish fencing master as the first systematic application of therapeutic massage in the West. It was based on European folk massage, oriental techniques from the Middle East and the then emerging knowledge of modern anatomy and physiology. The strokes and manipulations of Swedish Massage are each conceived as having a specific therapeutic benefit. One of the primary goals of Swedish Massage is to speed the venous return of un-oxygenated and toxic blood from the extremities. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and young. Swedish Massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific clinical uses in medical or remedial therapy.
AURA READING
The human aura is a fascinating sight to behold. Auras are outward manifestations of a person's physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual health. We have all had an inkling that our energy extends beyond our actual flesh and bone structure. That inkling is more that an theory or a hunch. To
view the beautiful colors radiating from another human being is an experience that we all can share.
Through personal interest and education, most people can learn how to see and eventually read
another's aura. This skill will be necessary in order to help balance the mind, body, and spirit. The colors, shape and magnitude of the aura are almost as informative about a person's mood, health and well being, as a fingerprint's positive capabilities of identification. Each chakra has an energy source, that can be seen by the human eyes only by being able to read the aura. What we are seeing , through many hues and variations of the seven basic colors of the aura is pure and basic energy in it's visual splendor. Learning how to read the human aura is the first step in achieving your goal of Balancing the body mind and spirit of others and of yourself.
SELF HYPNOSIS
Self hypnosis is an exercise of the mind and as in any type of exercise, the results grow with repetition. Be patient at first and disciplined so that you will be consistent. You will soon be able to get yourself into self hypnosis very quickly and experience positive changes in your life.
The key to self hypnosis is Relaxation and Imagination. The more you are relaxed and the more vivid your imagined goal, the better the results. The picture or word(s) you see in your minds eye will be the goal for your subconscious to help you achieve. The more the subconscious mind believes, the faster and greater the results.
THERAPEUTIC TOUCH
Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a well-established form of energetic therapy, practiced by professional nurses since the early seventies, and is widely researched in healthcare institutions, including the National Institutes of Health. Therapeutic Touch developed by Dolores Kreiger, PhD, RN is now taught in more than 80 countries and 100 universities worldwide.
Therapeutic Touch is derived from the ancient practice of laying-on of hands. It provides balancing and healing from a holistic approach: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Therapeutic Touch has been successfully used to treat:
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Asthma
Depression
Anxiety
Headaches
Infections
Athletic injuries
Nausea and vomiting
Recovery from surgery
Side effects from chemotherapy and radiation cancer treatment
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Much like the petals of a flower, the twenty-two bones of the cranium expand and contract with the pumping action of the cerebrospinal fluid. What is often perceived as a tightly closed set of bones, is instead part of the Craniosacral System inside each of us that is rhythmically moving each day of our lives. When the bones of the cranium are moving freely and are balanced, the individual's nervous system operates smoothly.
When movement is compromised due to tension or injury to the head, neck or spine, symptoms may arise. Chronic headaches, migraines, shoulder pain, TMJ dysfunction and insomnia are a few of the manifestations of imbalances in the central nervous system due to craniosacral dysfunctions.
Dr. William Sutherland, an Osteopathic student in the early 1900's, devoted more than 20 years of his career proving that the distinctly beveled patterns of the suture lines of the cranium were designed to move in relation to one another. In the 1970's, John Upledger, DO, using Sutherland's early work, identified the Craniosacral System. This system is a three-layered membrane system composed of the meninges, the cerebrospinal fluid and the structures within the membrane system, including the brain and spinal cord and the pituitary and pineal glands.
Craniosacral Therapy is a powerful healing modality on its own or combined with other modalities, as preventative care or treatment for chronic and acute situations. The Craniosacral Therapist evaluates the imbalances in the central nervous system with a sensitive touch and suggests correct movement which engages one's own self-correcting mechanism and assists in sorting out many deep patterns of imbalance. This process is profoundly relaxing and has been described as the ultimate relaxation of mind and body.
YOGA
Yoga is an ancient Hindu system of mental, physical and spiritual training, which is aimed at bringing all three into union, through a variety of techniques and practices. There is evidence of yogic practices dating as far back as 4000 years ago, however, the system we use today was complied by Patanjali, an Indian sage, in about 300 BC. One of the principles behind yoga is that all tension stored in the body is a direct result of stress, that more often than not, has been a result of our thinking and reactions to situations. Thus, both the mind and the body need to be relaxed and exercised, to change habits that cause us stress. This stress and tension is not natural to our bodies - we were not born clenching our jaws and hunching our shoulders. The asanas, or postures, when practised consistently, bring flexibility, suppleness and strength to the body and also help to tone muscles correctly. Above all, they teach one how to use the body correctly by re-educating the muscles, so that dis-ease and pain are eliminated, leaving you to live a healthy and comfortable life. In addition, the physical postures are combined with breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditative practices to relax and calm the body and mind, and further enhance overall health. Traditionally, the aim of yoga is to stimulate the prana (vital energy) to flow through the correct energy channels (nadis) in the body. There are seven major wheels of energy, called chakras. The feeling of vitality and well-being that is felt after a yoga session is the result of these chakras being brought into balance. Yoga releases tensions and stress patterns that have built up in the body, and the benefits can be felt almost immediately. One of the most widely practised forms of yoga, Iyengar Yoga (developed by BKS Iyengar), involves, among other techniques, the Sun Salutation, which a vigorous series of 12 asanas. This practice raises the heart rate and is an excellent low-impact cardiovascular workout.
SHIATSU THERAPY
Shiatsu is a form of therapeutic massage, literally translated as finger (shi) pressure (atsu). Pressure is applied to certain points (tsubo) on the body's meridians, invisible energy channels which connect different parts of our body. When our body is in a state of illness, this indicates that there is disharmony and obstructions within the system. By stimulating the tsubo, shiatsu aims to get the vital life energy or Qi moving freely again, thus inwardly restoring balance, and outwardly relieving pain, aches and tension. A shiatsu therapist will use the hands, arms, elbows, knees and feet, as well as the thumbs and fingers on the patient's body, according to what work is needed. As such, there is no set routine or order for a shiatsu treatment, and it varies from patient to patient. Shiatsu is based on the Chinese theory of the circulation of subtle energy, or Ch'i, through meridians running through and over the body which ultimately govern the internal organs and thus our entire metabolism. Situated along these meridians are points, the same as those used in Acupuncture, where this energy can be effectively manipulated by the therapist. Although the foundation of this massage is deep pressure exerted upon these specific localized points, this system also includes a wide variety of stretches, rubbing, hacking and other common massage techniques. It is a somewhat subtler form of massage since it deals with a higher level of body mechanism - the etheric Ch'i prana -- or energy, rather than just the gross physical bones, joints, muscles, etc. It can be used as a complete system of health maintenance, or simply for stress reduction, relaxation, and a general improvement of feeling-tone. Unlike Swedish Massage, Shiatsu requires the recipient's participation with the therapist in coordinating the breath with the manipulations. It is a quiet and contemplative form of massage having profound results.
MEDITATION
Meditation means contemplation or thoughtful consideration. There are as many approaches to meditation as there are people, but the general goal agreed upon is to train the Heart-Mind to observe and then to let go of attachments in order simply to be mindful.
Meditation is an umbrella word which encompasses a multitude of techniques aimed at achieving a state of enlightenment or ecstasy or both. Most Masters teach that one's life should become a meditation .The mindfulness one acquires through practice of sitting meditation needs to be carried out during all of life: when talking, one is talking mindfully, when studying, studying with concentration, when resting, resting fully.
Some people find it impossible to start meditating on their own and welcome joining a group where they can seek advice and practise suggested techniques. Whether you choose to meditate on your own or in a group, the procedure will be similar. Details may vary, but the basic rules are common. The key to meditation probably lies in managing to concentrate on just one thing at a time instead of on a welter of things as we normally tend to do. Reducing the flow of information and sensations we are trying to accept reduces the mental responses we have to make. This respite from any thought also diminishes stress.
Research shows that breathing, brain activity, blood pressure, and heart and pulse rate are all affected my meditation. The calm and rested feeling it produces should not only ease disorders of the moment, but also improve your ability to cope physically and mentally with forthcoming activities or future problems.
Meditation is natural, easy to learn and safe. It continuously focuses the mind on a single point of reference. With practice, Meditation empties the mind thoughts creating many benefits:
Reduction of stress, anxiety and depression
Increased creativity, intelligence, memory and learning ability depression
Amplified energy and awareness of the world and universe depression
INFANT MASSAGE
Massage is a precious gift that parents can give their babies. It warms, soothes, relaxes, comforts and communicates affection with a richness little else can match. Some of the benefits of infant massage are: helps parents bond with their babies, reduces muscle tension, enhances left/right brain symmetry, helps the infant to learn appropriate touch, and helps soothe colicky babies.
During the course parents learn the benefits of infant massage, learn how to massage their baby, and are given helpful hints for infant massage. The strokes are easy to learn, so that all parents can give a wonderful massage. It would also make sense for relatives and others who care for infants to learn this wonderful modality
PRESSURE POINT THERAPY
We are all under pressure. Pressure is another word for stress. When a person thinks of stress, they think of the things that cause the stress; job, children, relationships, money, time, etc.
One can cope with stress to a degree. Some people do better than others. Everyone has their own "stress threshold." If one stays inside this threshold the body functions normally.
But when the pressures of the world go beyond this point, the stress infiltrates (goes into) the body, and a person feels "stressed out."
When your body gets stressed out, your muscles tighten up. Many of you regularly feel this in your neck and shoulder areas. These tight muscles can put pressure on the nerves that run through the muscle. When this occurs, the nerve sends an "emergency" signal back to your brain, which, in turn, further tightens up the muscle. Your body stores "stress" in these areas, this stress pattern results in the small areas of extreme tightness (energy) which we call Pressure Points.
Pressure Points are small painful pockets of energy that are located on or along a nerve or nerve pathway in the body. Pressure Points will block the nerve energy from flowing through your body.
Because the nerves in the body are interconnected, a Pressure Point blocking nerve in one area in the body can block the function of another part of the body.
Most diseases in the body can be traced to stress or pressure, to one degree or another.
As you may know, the entire body is run by nerves. Your nerves control all functions in your body. The nerves run your heart, digestive system, muscles, immune system, senses such as sight, taste, hearing, etc. If a nerve is blocked by a Pressure Point, the messages that flow through the nerve also become stopped.
The basic idea, then, in Pressure Point Therapy is to find the areas of Pressure Points and treat them to open up nerve pathways again.
PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM
Massage Therapy
Pregnancy can be a very stressful time physically and emotionally. Massage therapy, both before and after birth, can help relieve these strains in an extremely comfortable way.
Prenatal massage therapy focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be. While providing emotional support and nurturing touches, it provides relaxation by relieving stress on joints, eases neck and back pain, helps to keep good posture and relaxes and provides flexibility to birthing muscles. Massage can aid the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and reduce fatigue. It stimulates different glands in the body, which help to stabilize hormone levels, and relieves nervous tension throughout the body.
The fetus can also receive warm, loving touches before he or she is born. Massage oils and creams with vitamin E included may help with possible stretching of the skin around the belly. Doctors agree that a relaxed mother will be more likely to have a happier and healthier pregnancy, and perhaps an easier delivery.
Massage therapy is not only good before childbirth, but also afterwards. Postpartum massage focuses on helping to restore the woman's body to its pre-pregnancy condition.
Massage therapy plays an important part in the restoration of the abdominal muscle wall and the uterus to its normal state. It helps to realign the body weight to its original distribution, and tones the over-stretched areas of skin over the belly. As with all massages, it relieves muscle tension and stress from everyday activities, especially new mothering duties. It not only helps restore the physical body to the new mom, but also helps to revive her emotional state. The loving touch of hands can provide a time to relax and reflect for the new mother, and helps to get her through the postpartum blues. When the mother feels good about herself, it is easier to meet the needs of her newborn.
Note the following cautions:
1) Don't begin prenatal massage therapy until the first trimester has been completed. The increased circulation flow with massage may cause dizziness, and add to existing morning sickness.
2}Pressure points on both sides of the ankle and the webbing between the thumb and index finger are to be avoided. These areas are known as "reflexology points," and are believed that if sustained pressure is held on those points, they could activate labor too early.
3) Few insurance companies cover the costs of prenatal massage therapy.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Your mind essentially operates at two levels... the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
Hypnosis is simply a way to speak directly to the subconscious mind.
Your conscious mind has four functions.
1. It is the analytical part of your mind... In other words, a task oriented problem solver.
2. It is the rational part of your mind. It tries to attach a reason to why everything happens. (The only problem is that often it does not attach the right reason.)
3. You draw "Will Power" from your conscious mind. (Will power, however, only provides a short burst of determination. It will not provide a permanent solution.)
4. It holds your temporary or short-term memory.
Your Powerful Subconscious Mind.
Your Subconscious Mind represents who and what you are. It houses the following:
(1) Habits - There are basically 3 types of habits:
(a) Good Habits (b) Bad Habits (c) Utility Habits
(closing the door behind you, covering your mouth when you sneeze, etc.)
(2) Emotions (3) Permanent memory
(For effective long-term change to take place, it is important to address the Subconscious mind and implement change there.)
HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Hypnosis works by making positive, Acceptable suggestions directly to the subconscious mind at a time when the client truly wants those changes to take place.
Hypnosis requires 2 things.
One, is a caring and competent hypnotist or Hypnotherapist.
The other, is a client who is ready and willing to make positive change in his or her life.
It is a team effort between Hypnotherapist and client.
DISPELLING MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT HYPNOSIS
Hypnosis is probably one of the most misunderstood professions in the world.
The movie image and the reality are far different.
When hypnotized, you are not asleep in the conventional sense of the word. You hear everything that the hypnotist says. As well, you will hear anything that is going on around you.
Because the reality is so different than the perception, people sometimes wonder if they were actually hypnotized after a session... that is, until they experience the terrific results of the session.
Note: I often do a simple test for my clients while they are hypnotized so that they are sure that they were in fact hypnotized.
Another misconception is that you can be made to do things that you would not willingly do.
This is pure fiction. Under hypnosis, you cannot be made to do anything that violates your moral, religious or personal convictions. You cannot be made to do anything that you do not want to do.
If a suggestion is made to your subconscious mind that is unacceptable or violates your value system, your mind will simply disallow the suggestion. It will refuse to accept it.
So rest assured, when under hypnosis, no one can make a person run down the road squawking like a chicken. That could only occur if the person has the desire to act like a chicken in the first place (e.g. a volunteer for a stage hypnotist has agreed, in his or her mind, to be part of the entertainment and will therefore cooperate).
CAN HYPNOSIS HELP YOU?
If you have a true desire to make positive change in your life, the answer is Yes!
The added advantage is that changes made at the subconscious level are more durable and long lasting than those made on a conscious level.

An effective aid to relaxation, massage helps smooth away stress, unknown tense and aching muscles, relieve headaches and helps sleep problems. It improves the functioning of many of the body' systems, promotes healing and tones muscles, leaving you with a feeling of renewed energy. These days people use a lot of different kind of massages. A well-trained massage practitioner employs his hands as finely tuned yet powerful tools to promote wellness. As awareness grows and misconceptions fade regarding the value of massage therapy, more and more people are discovering the profound benefits available to them through regular body work. The origins of therapeutic massage are rooted in the common instinctual response to hold and rub a hurt or pain. It is found in all cultures as an integral part of health care and maintenance. Hippocrates, the father of western medicine, considered massage of prime importance in any health regime. Galen and the Romans also greatly prized the healing benefits of massage.
